A lot of banks are offering the ability to apply for a new bank account on the internet, so that right there will save a lot of time for you. Simply just fill in your application online and see if it goes through. Some people have said that Union Bank of California does not use chexsystems, but instead, they do a credit check. I am not sure about how accurate that is, but I tried applying there and failed a while ago. I had a much easier time getting a checking account without chexsystems from a credit union. At first, I thought that it was hard to qualify for a credit union because they have requirements to be a member of the credit union. A lot of credit unions will allow you to have an account if you simply live in the same county. So if you have credit unions around you that you can apply for a checking account online, you should give it a try. If you can land a checking account without chexsystems, you should be able to get a regular checking account without restrictions. I do know that banks that have a second chance program will not give you full access. For example, they will take days longer to cash your checks.
